LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

• Define grief, mourning, bereavement, and loss, and explain the differences between these foundational concepts

• Describe common emotional, cognitive, physical, behavioral, social, and spiritual responses to grief

• Recognize grief resulting from both death and non-death losses

• Explain major grief theories and models, including their strengths, limitations, and appropriate clinical application

• Apply grief models to a case study to illustrate what this looks like in the clinical setting

• Identify risk factors that increase the likelihood of complications in the grieving process

• Identify factors that contribute to healthy coping
